Christmas in Boston (2005) review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 17 August 2011 06:09 (A review of Christmas in Boston (2005))

When the movie first starts, you think its going to be really interesting. Long distance pen pals finally meeting up, but then it gets pretty boring, as they both send one of their friends to the blind date of the meeting, dragging out the mistaken identity part.
The real Matt and Ellen fit perfectly together, as do the real Gina and Seth, but its all a little predictable.

Family Rescue (1997) review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 17 August 2011 12:06 (A review of Family Rescue (1997))

A tough grandfather tries to protect his granddaughter from the man who raped her, along with his great grandchild.

Amazing story, this movie really does show family/friends loyalty in tough situations.

My Father the Hero review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 16 August 2011 08:44 (A review of My Father the Hero)

A teenage girl on vacation in the Bahamas with her divorced father tries to impress a potential boyfriend by saying that her father is actually her lover.

Nicole, played by Katherine Heigl, is a little stuck up and spoilt, making her an unloveable character. The father is much funnier and loveable, constantly trying to protect his daughters dignity, and some of his lines just really cracked me up.

Best line: 'Get out here, and look at the god damn moon, it's glorious!'

Celeste in the City review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 16 August 2011 07:03 (A review of Celeste in the City)

A small-town girl new to Manhattan, gets the make-over treatment from her gay cousin, Dana (Nicholas Brendon). Classic story of nerdy girl (played by a hot actress) only she has terrible frizzy hair and big glasses, with the worst wardrobe you've ever seen, struggling to get by in her new job.
Luckily, gay cousin Dana (the queen), manages to cut through the frizzy hair and glasses, bringing out the beautiful girl underneath. Kinda like that film with Freddy Prince Jr and the nerdy girl.

This Time Around (2003) review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 16 August 2011 06:26 (A review of This Time Around (2003))

We all wish we could change the past. For Mel that day has come. In junior high, Mel and Gabby were the biggest geeks. Of course, Mel had a crush on the most popular guy, Drew Hesler. When word spreads of Mel's crush, he plays a cruel joke on her pretending to be interested, only to turn her down in front of the entire school. Eleven years later, our ugly ducklings are now swans and Mel is a PR executive. When Mel is assigned to handle the publicity for a new restaurant, she is shocked to discover that the owner is a handsome young entrepreneur named Drew Hesler.

Pretty good movie, but its a little too predictable. You can easily tell that she's gonna fall for her childhood sweetheart, as he's such a good looking guy and they're so sweet together. It's like a cliche highschool romance movie, only with 25 year olds.

In the Flesh review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 15 August 2011 07:17 (A review of In the Flesh)

A police detective (Ed Corbin) assigned to work a gay bar on an undercover drug operation gets hooked up with a gay student hustler (Dane Ritter). After the student witnesses a murder, the cop provides him an alibi and invites him to stay at his apartment. There a homosexual relationship develops.

Terrible acting, very disappointing, as the characters are so unrealistic and their reactions to things are just... lame. The Detective is cute, but thats the only real thing he has going for him, since he can't act.

Priest review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 15 August 2011 07:10 (A review of Priest)

Father Greg Pilkington is torn between his call as a conservative Catholic priest and his secret life as a homosexual with a gay lover, frowned upon by the Church. Upon hearing the confession of a young girl of her incestuous father, Greg enters an intensely emotional spiritual struggle deciding between choosing morals over religion and one life over another.

Father Matthew Thomas, played by 'Tom Wilkinson' is just hilarious, everything that comes out of his mouth is just so funny, espeically when he's trying to wind up one of the other priests against homosexuality, shouting "How was it for you, big boy?" through the wall. His relationship with Maria could have been explored a little more, the same as Greg's and Graham's, but it was a fairly good movie.

Very heart breaking in places, and the end just breaks you down in tears.

The Number One Girl review

Sucks beyond words. I don't know what they were thinking. I couldn't even watch it right to the end, because it was soooo boring.

Don't Look Behind You review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 13 August 2011 11:15 (A review of Don't Look Behind You)

Thriller about a family thrust into the Federal Witness Relocation program that fails, in deadly ways, to protect them.

I love movies that requires people to give up everything they've worked for in one place and move to another, becoming someone completely different, and this family has to do that against their will, in order to stay alive.

Trail of Tears review

Posted : 12 years, 8 months ago on 13 August 2011 11:11 (A review of Trail of Tears)

This movie is a true story of two women's search for their missing kids kidnapped by their husbands. Quite a sad story as the desperate mothers, Cheryl and Annie team up, searching everywhere for their children, having a few conflicts of their own along the way.
